Winnsboro Center for the Arts strives to host at least two theatrical performances each year. This years’ “Suite Surrender” received exceptional reviews. An Actors Workshop and Showcase concluded earlier this month with much enthusiasm and positive feedback.
Theater fans can look forward to another play, “The Inheritance,” by local artist and writer, Georgia Moore, in February and the musical, “Chaps!” directed by Bob Hibbard in early October of 2020. Watch this page for more details.
Actors Workshop and Showcase
September 16th, 23th & 30th
Showcase October 7
Students in the Actors Workshop will become better performers through the principles of imagination, controlled release of inhibitions, and common sense. Students work on techniques for developing individual talents without trying to “sacrifice the personality in lieu of the method”. With individual attention applied to individual abilities, the student and teachers attempt to discover and emphasize what works and diminish what doesn’t.
Monologues, scene study, voice and articulation, character development, improvisation and audition techniques are incorporated to help make each student the best performer they can be.
Cost – $100 for the full series. Call the center at 903-342-0686 to reserve a space.
2019 Past Performances
A farce by Michael McKeever
It’s 1942, and two of Hollywood’s biggest divas have descended upon the luxurious Palm Beach Royale Hotel – assistants, luggage, and a legendary feud with one another in tow. Everything seems to be in order for their wartime performance. That is, until they are somehow assigned to the same suite. Mistaken identities, overblown egos, double entendre, and a lap dog named Mr. Boodles round out this hilarious riot of a love note to the classic farces of the 30s and 40s.
