Residents are proud of Winnsboro, and offer a friendly and welcoming environment to visitors. Comments from artists at our annual Art & Wine Festival say it is the friendliest town on the art circuit.
Winnsboro Texas is also a designated cultural arts district and a Main Street Town offering not only art, music and literature but unique annual events, award winning restaurants and a variety of shops.
A Texas Main Street Since 2003
The program began in 1981 and is affiliated with the National Trust for Historic Preservation. The Texas Main Street city Program is among the most successful downtown revitalization programs in the nations, and has assisted more than 140 Texas cities through the program.
Since its designation, Winnsboro’s Main Street Program has been a major factor in the development and preservation of our downtown with over $11 million dollars reinvested in our downtown through public and private funding.
A Designated Cultural Arts District
The Texas Commission on the Arts selected the Winnsboro Cultural District to be included as one of the 2009 Designated Cultural Districts for the State of Texas. At that time Winnsboro was the smallest town in Texas to receive this designation.
Enjoy a variety of art, music, unique shopping and culinary offerings. The area also provides birding, golfing, fishing, antique car parades, festivals and a seasonal Farmers’ market. The variety makes the town of Winnsboro a vibrant community and worthy of this Cultural Arts designation.
