Congratulations to the winners of the Children’s Bookmark Design Contest in conjunction with this year’s Winnsboro Festival of Books! The theme was “Show Us Your Favorite Book or Story,” and the contest was open to children in grades K – 5. The first-place winner, Lila, will have her bookmark design printed as a real bookmark and distributed at the Winnsboro Festival of Books on May 7. Second place, third place, fourth place, and honorable mentions will be displayed at the festival. Thank you to everyone who participated!
First Place: Lila, grade 4
Second Place: Archer, grade 2
Third Place: Lily, grade 4
Fourth Place: Audrey, grade 1
Honorable Mentions: Lincoln, grade 1 & Isaiah, grade 3
The bookmark designs were judged based on originality, creativity, technique, and how well they showed their favorite book or story. Students were able to use any type of art to create their bookmark designs including paint, colored pencil, marker, etc.
The arts increase self-confidence, enhance creativity, and communication skills; stories and literacy are a vital part of children’s development.
The winners will be celebrated at the 2022 Winnsboro Festival of Books, and the festival will include many exciting children’s activities including hosting children’s authors, a story walk, Storytime art activities, and free books for children!
Contest Winner: Lila, grade 4
