Bowery Stage Concert Schedule

Concert Schedule for 2019/2020

The Bowery Stage is an intimate 88 seat listening room and musicians tell us that the acoustics provide some of the best sounds they’ve experienced.  We usually have two 45 minute sets with an intermission that provides an opportunity to meet the performer(s). You are welcome to bring a bottle of wine and we’ll supply the glasses and uncorking for a small donation.  Small fruit plates and other refreshments are available.  Performers love us!

Michael Martin Murphey

October 18 - 7:30 pm

A loyal American son from Texas, Michael Martin Murphey is best known for his chart-topping hits “Wildfire,” Carolina In The Pines,” “What’s Forever For,” “Long Line of Love,” “Geronimo’s Cadillac”, “Cowboy Logic,” and many more across his 35 albums released to date. Murphey’s long-running incarnation as a purveyor of the music, lifestyle, and values of the American West is one of many musical mantles he has worn over the years.

To track his career path is to span the country itself, from coming of age in the Texas folk music scene, to Los Angeles to Colorado to Nashville and then back to his native Texas. During the early 1970s in Austin, TX along with artists like Jerry Jeff Walker and Gary P. Nunn, Murphey created the “Cosmic Cowboy” movement, which was pivotal in drawing artists like Willie Nelson to the scene and helped birth the “Outlaw” Country movement. He is a 5-time recipient of the Wrangler award from the National Cowboy and Western Heritage Museum and Cowboy Hall of Fame, and boasts awards from the Academy of Country Music, Rock Music Awards, Academy of Western Music Awards, Governor of New Mexico’s Outstanding Achievement Award, Outstanding Son of Texas Award by the Texas Legislature, and multiple from BMI.

Adler & Hearne

November 2 - 7:30 pm

From Texas’ upper east side near the rural arts hamlet of Winnsboro, award-winning performing songwriters Lynn Adler and Lindy Hearne (self-proclaimed “organic song farmers”) tour nationally, serving up fresh-picked songs with jazz undertones in a spirited genre they define simply as “Texas Folk.” Their annual home town performance on The Bowery Stage is always a sellout show and brings listeners from near and far!

Gus Gustafson will be opening!

Hannah Kirby

December 8 - 7:30 pm

Hannah returns again to The Bowery Stage for a holiday season concert!  She always presents a stellar concert in an intimate show where she just has fun! Hannah’s goal is simple: To make people feel good through her music. Hannah brings it to the stage, to the audience. Hyper-stylized but incredibly honest, Hannah Kirby is a musician out of time, out of this world, and probably somewhere in outer space.

Her classic rock influence mixes with a taste of early soul and blues to give her a sound that screams rock & roll. Hannah’s powerful voice never overwhelms or cuts but instead melts you, like honey and butter on a hot biscuit.

Eliza Gilkyson

January 18 - 7:30 pm

On stage, Eliza presents a vibrant spontaneous mix of storytelling with self-effacing humor and tenderness, within a wide-ranging spectrum of human experience, from intimate love songs to political diatribe, accompanied by some of the best support players in the world

Beyond the Pale

February 15 - 7:30 pm

True to their name, Beyond The Pale delivers a wild musical ride outside the boundaries of convention. Delighting audiences for over fifteen years, the band is grounded in the traditional roots music of America, Ireland and Northern Europe with imaginative ventures across musical borders. Where else can you experience fiery reels, haunting ballads, outrageously humorous songs and music from around the world including Mexican polkas and Texas swing?

Sofia Talvik

March 14 - 7:30 pm

This lovely lady from Sweden is coming back! Unmistakably Nordic in flavor, Sofia Talvik somehow still conforms to American interpretations of her own original music, a North Sea siren blending sparkle and melancholy. A veteran performer with 6 full length albums as well as numerous EPs, singles and tours behind her.

Mary Gauthier with Jaimee Harris

March 28 - 7:30 pm

There is nothing trivial about Mary Gauthier’s tenth album, Rifles & Rosary Beads (Thirty Tigers), all eleven songs co-written with and for wounded veterans. Eleven of the nearly four hundred songs that highly accomplished songwriters have co-written as part of the five-year-old Songwriting With Soldiers program. Participants of the program have shared that the experience of songwriting was life changing for them, some even said life saving. Something about writing that song —telling that story —is healing.

Monica Rizzio

April 18 - 7:30 pm

In 2017, Quitman native now from Cape Cod, Monica Rizzio stepped on our stage and, in a sold-out homecoming concert, played a show ranging from Americana Roots to a little bit of country featuring cuts from her CD “Washashore Cowgirl”! Now she’s coming back – April 18, 2020! The locals call someone who moves to Cape Cod but was not born there a Washashore. This young Texas girl barrel-raced on Pleasant Valley Ranch here in Wood County and had never seen the ocean. So when Monica Rizzio crossed over the iconic bridges of Cape Cod in 2004, she instantly became the Washashore Cowgirl.

Beet Root Revival

May 16 - 7:30 pm

Beat Root Revival is quietly making a big noise. They’ve just played gigs at Poor David’s Pub in Dallas, where David Card said they were definitely on their way up, and at the Big Barn Dance in Taos where Lindy Hearne said “Beat Root Revival is an amazing duo that brought the house down at the Big Barn Dance. I highly recommend them!”. They’ll be opening for Brian Wilson at the Count Basie Theater in NJ in October followed by a Kerrville Folk Festival show and in November will debut at the famed “Blue Door” in Oklahoma City!

Thanks to County Line Magazine for their support
of live music on The Bowery Stage and in all of East Texas!
