2022 Annual “Cowboy Tales” Art Exhibition
Submission Deadline: September 12, 2022
Exhibition Dates: October 1 – November 26, 2022

Juried Exhibition Theme
“Cowboy Tales”, presented by Winnsboro Center for the Arts, is a juried art exhibition to be held annually each year to coincide with Winnsboro Autumn Trails. This exhibition exemplifies the theme of western culture and imagery, including but not limited to, “the wild west,” southwestern traditional, Native American art and imagery, American history arts and imagery, ranch art, cowboys/farming, wild America, and landscapes/flora/fauna. The theme is open to interpretation. All art styles and genres are acceptable. All artworks must stay within the western theme.

Artwork Specifications
The juried “Cowboy Tales” exhibition is open to anyone 18 years of age or older who resides in Texas. Eligible media include drawing, painting, mixed media, oil/chalk pastels, block/ink print, collage, metalwork, textile, wood, and ceramics. Only two-dimensional artwork will be accepted for this first annual “Cowboy Tales” art exhibition.

Important Dates
July 1: Opening date for submissions
September 12: Entry Deadline
September 17: Artist Notification (please check your spam folder before calling us to check for status.)
September 20: Delivery of accepted work to WCA at 200 Market St. Winnsboro, Texas
October 6: Artist reception and awards
November 26: Last full day of the exhibition
November 29: Artwork pick-up (items not picked up within 2 weeks will become the property of WCA)

Entry Fees
An entry fee of $25 allows up to 3 entries per artist. A discounted entry fee of $15 for current WCA members allows up to 3 entries per artist. Become a WCA member here. Entry fees are nonrefundable.

Prize Categories: 
Best of Show – $500
1st Place – $300 (4 categories)
2nd Place – $200 (4 categories)
3rd Place – Gift Card (4 categories)
Honorable Mention

Entries will be judged in four categories: Interpretation and clarity of work in relation to the theme; creativity and originality of the work; quality of artistic composition, and overall design and impression.

Artist Agreement
Upon acceptance, download the WCA Artist Display Consignment Agreement and the Attachment to the WCA Artist Display Consignment Agreement. This paperwork must be completed and attached to the artwork upon delivery to WCA.

Meet the Juror
Walt Davis will be our sole judge for the 2022 Cowboy Tales Juried Art Competition. Davis has been a watercolor painter for over thirty years, and has taught watercolor, figure drawing, and plein air sketching at several colleges and art institutions.
