A Word from the Artist
Sometimes, a piece is thoughtfully derived from a collaboration within a trip of inspiration with a friend. Other times an art-directed photo shoot is needed to develop images for creating as an inspiration for artist interpretation. Sometimes, it is necessary to purchase inspiration and reference being careful to insure integrity. At other times, an emotionally driven idea takes form on a blank canvas.
After considerable strategic planning, a direction is established and a blank canvas is hung on the board. Each piece is executed through hand application of organic natural pastels. And although I am perplexed at how often a viewer will fail to stop and enjoy the artistic license
used to convey an idea, emotion or experience; The photorealistic quality of many of my pieces is a quality that I strive for.
Each piece is an original done by my own hands.
Monoprint signed originals of select pieces are available.
Autumn Trails: Images of the West
September 27th - November 4th
See western photography by Jerry Goodale on exhibit in the new Winnsboro Historical Museum across the street at The Depot. Hours for the museum are Fridays 1:00 – 4:00pm, Saturdays 11:00am – 4:00pm and Sundays 1:00 – 4:00pm.
East Texas’ own Jerry Goodale has traversed his adult life with a camera in hand capturing the beauty and meaning through images from points around the world.
“It was the late sixties and the draft board separated me from home and family. I wanted to hang on to some of the visions that touched me. Most of those early images were destroyed, ruined by the elements, lost in the mail or confiscated upon my return from Southeast Asia.
Back stateside, I hitchhiked around the country for a year, regathering my soul and soaking up a soothing semblance of peace created by light. It was therapeutic; still is. I don’t hitchhike anymore, but I still kick around the back roads collecting images.”
